Safe Water

Life would not be possible without groundwater. Most arid areas of the world depend entirely on groundwater. Groundwater supplies a large proportion of the water we use for drinking, sanitation, food production and industrial processes. It is also critically important for the healthy functioning of ecosystems, such as wetlands and rivers. Nearly half of the country (around 600 million people) face severe water scarcity with around 2 lakh people dying every year due to inadequate access to potable water. 70% of India’s water is contaminated. 75% of households do not have drinking water on its premises.
